This project compiles four public statistics from the Department of Protective Services, Ministry of Health and Welfare, covering 2008—2025.
How to read these numbers
- “Victims” counts people; “Reports” counts cases. Do not mix the two.
- All percentages use the same-year, same-metric total as the denominator, including “Unknown”. Rounded values may not sum to exactly 100%.
- Relationship categories that are blank and did not exist that year are not converted to 0. Categories changed in 2019 and 2021; compare across years with the original tables.
- Charts sum the underlying cells. Where printed totals in the source differ, the difference is kept in the quality notes and the source values are not altered.
